Raise The Curtain!

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 5 frequently asked questions.

  • Why is LCDS having another capital campaign?

A very fair question. The recently completed Physical Education & Athletics Center fulfilled an early phase of the school’s 2013 Campus Master Plan, which also included a later phase dedicated to building a new theater. With a historic leadership gift from the Gardner family and major support from the school’s most generous benefactors, it became clear that, sooner rather than later, a new theater that meets the needs of the school was within reach.
  • How is Raise The Curtain! different from The Excellence Fund?

Raise The Curtain! funds go solely toward building a new theater, while The Excellence Fund is our annual giving program that supplements the school’s operating budget. Annual giving helps support our outstanding faculty and programming; consequently its level must remain healthy and stable irrespective of any capital campaigns.
  • Does tuition pay for the building project?

No. Zero tuition dollars go toward this or any other capital project. The entire cost of construction is paid for with charitable gifts and from the Board Designated portion of the LCDS endowment fund.
  • Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes. The IRS defines LCDS as a 501(c)(3) organization, meaning all gifts to the school are fully tax deductible.
  • Over how many years can I make my pledge?

The school understands that families plan thoughtfully and often make financial forecasts deep into the future. Because the school recognizes that with time families are able to stretch to make more generous gifts, we will accept payments over a one to five-year period.
