Athletics at LCDS

Athletics Mission Statement

Lancaster Country Day School's athletic department supports the overarching mission of the school: to promote students' intellectual, creative, physical, and emotional development. A quality athletic program is an extension of the classroom, valuing process and enhancing the life skills cultivated during the class day as well as inspiring a sense of community and school pride. Regardless of sport or level, the relationship between coaches, parents, and program administrators is designed to provide a positive experience for every student-athlete in a supportive environment. The LCDS Athletic Department believes this quality experience is most readily achieved through a focus on three core values: Sportsmanship, Character, and Striving for Excellence.

Core Values

List of 3 items.

  • Character

We emphasize the value in the life skills learned through educational-based athletics. The values of teamwork, fair play, accountability, self-advocacy, resilience, hard work, servant leadership, commitment, competition, and honor develop and enhance a student-athlete's character.
  • Sportsmanship

We will handle success with humility and failure with grace.  Our culture promotes respect for teammates, opponents, officials, fans, and the game itself.
  • Striving for Excellence

We strive for excellence in athletics, just as we do in academics and the arts. Our goal is to put forth our best possible effort and to compete at our highest level regardless of outcome.
Lancaster Country Day School is a preschool-12th grade, coed college preparatory school with students from Lancaster, Hershey, York and Reading.
