FundFest Celebration and Auction FAQs

List of 7 frequently asked questions.

  • What is FundFest? Why is it important?

FundFest is an annual fundraiser for Lancaster Country Day School.  The goal of FundFest is to help enhance the academic environment of our school and inspire an enthusiasm for learning in our students.
FundFest is an evening out for just the adults. While fundraising is our focus, food and fun are a big part of this much-anticipated annual tradition at Lancaster Country Day School. FundFest is typically held on campus each April. Our Parents Fieldhouse and the new Physical Education & Athletics Center is transformed into a festive venue. The evening is carefully planned out to include drinks, butlered hors d’oeuvres, dinner and exciting live and silent auctions.
  • What should I wear?

This is a party and a reason to celebrate our wonderful school, so dress for fun, this year is a sports theme. Cocktail attire has been the norm through the years, but come in what you’re most comfortable wearing.
  • Where will I sit?

Tables seating 8-10 people are arranged throughout the room. Seats can be saved on a first-come basis when the doors open. This event is not just for parents! Friends, family and business associates are all welcome to attend. FundFest also provides an excellent opportunity to mingle with the entire LCDS community, from faculty to fellow parents and grandparents to alumni.
If you would prefer reserved seating, opportunities exist to sponsor a table for your guests.  Sponsorship packets will be mailed to you, or you may contact Sherry Vernet for more details.
  • How much money should I plan to spend?

FundFest’s central goal is to raise funds that will enrich our school programs, classrooms and the student life that our children enjoy at LCDS.  Auction items range from small to large values.  And, of course, any donation of any amount is greatly appreciated by our community, teachers, faculty and students.
  • What are the items available for bid at FundFest?

While the selection varies from year-to-year, you can be sure to find an enormous variety of items up for auction.  The silent auction typically has numerous donated items, including gift baskets, handbags, and bottles of wine, restaurant and business gift certificates and accessories for both women and men.
The live auction is often filled with high-demand concert tickets, vacation stays or fine-dining events at local restaurants. You never know what new and exciting one-of-a-kind item might be available!
  • What happens at FundFest?

While every year is different in theme and presentation, the event always begins with a cocktail reception. This time allows for silent auction bidding and mingling with the other guests.  Butlered hors d’oeuvres are provided while you peruse the offerings. This year we will feature heavy butlered hors d'oeuvres, sit down dinner, dessert and cocktails.
The evening moves along quickly with the close of silent bidding, followed by the much-anticipated Children’s Challenge. The Children’s Challenge provides the opportunity to support a special school initiative that is unveiled that evening. Past initiatives have included the purchase of new science equipment, iPads, and the much-lauded Harkness Tables (Read more about these here and here.)
The evening closes with the exciting live auction, usually ending around 10:00 p.m. At this time, guests check out and take their items with them.
