Upper School Dress Code

Upper School students are expected to wear clean, untorn clothing appropriate for a pre-school through 12th grade school setting that fosters the ideals of personal integrity as stated in our Honor Code. Students may not wear clothing that exposes midriffs, cleavage, upper thighs, or underwear. As a point of clarity, leggings and spandex tights need to be covered with a long shirt or sweater reaching down to the mid-thigh area. Clothing with inappropriate advertising (drug and alcohol references, profanity, etc.) is strictly forbidden. Shoulder straps must be at least one inch in width. Hats are not to be worn during the school day. Any student who violates the dress code will be asked immediately to change clothing or cover up; persistent infractions of the dress code will result in more serious disciplinary action.
Cougar Classy
Cougar Classy was started in order that we might add a level of formality to a few days of celebration, and in tribute to the kind of decorum to which John Jarvis aspired for the Lancaster Country Day School. On days designated as Cougar Classy students are required to wear any combination of the following:

• a reasonable length skirt or dress (mid-thigh or longer)
• full-length trousers of “non-jeans material”
• a top or collared shirt (such as a dress shirt, polo, or sweater set)
• a jacket and tie is acceptable, but not required • closed-toed shoes with socks or opened-toed dress shoes

Unacceptable attire on Cougar Classy days: jeans, shorts, inappropriately revealing attire, torn or frayed clothing, flip-flops, casual sandals, and athletic shoes. Graduation Attire: All Upper School students are expected to attend
