Service Learning

Service to the community and the school is an integral part of the Middle School experience at Lancaster Country Day.  Sixth-grade students assist Mrs. Bromley in maintaining the landscaping and gardens that enhance our school. The students in seventh grade assist weekly with the pre-K students, participating in educational games, acting as a reading buddy, and generally providing positive role models for our youngest students.  Each trimester, the eighth-grade theatre class performs for local retirement communities, extending the role of service to the community at large. Seventh and eighth graders are invited to volunteer with our Horizons program, which serves low-income public school students from the School District of Lancaster in the summer and on Saturdays.  Advisory groups regularly participate in service projects, such as book and food drives to benefit community organizations throughout Lancaster.

An independent, college-preparatory school founded in 1908, Lancaster Country Day School combines a rigorous curriculum with a supportive and encouraging faculty to ensure that every preschool-12th grade student receives the best education available. In addition to Lancaster, students come from Hershey, York and Reading to become part of our vibrant, high-spirited community.
