iPad Program

To advance the mission and philosophy of the school and foster the development of 21st-century skills, students in grades 8-12 will receive an iPad so he or she can learn within a one-to-one computing environment. The goal of this program is to enhance understanding of the course curriculum, as well as to further develop each student’s technology and information literacy skills. Our iPad program will allow students to have constant access to educational resources and information in a manner very similar to what they will likely experience in college. Providing more options for communication, collaboration and creativity, the iPad will help bring the curriculum to life in new and exciting ways.

We chose the iPad because:
  • It gives our students instant, portable access to information and educational resources
  • It enjoys large and ever-growing support in the education market, with thousands of apps
  • It works well with our Harkness tables because its design encourages face-to-face discussion around the table
  • Its tablet design makes an excellent note-taking platform
  • It has built-in apps for student organization
  • It has a 10-hour battery life, reducing the need to tote power cables and adapters
  • It can serve as a replacement for paper textbooks, greatly lightening our students’ backpacks

An independent, college-preparatory school founded in 1908, Lancaster Country Day School combines a rigorous curriculum with a supportive and encouraging faculty to ensure that every preschool-12th grade student receives the best education available. In addition to Lancaster, students come from Hershey, York and Reading to become part of our vibrant, high-spirited community.
