Early Education
The goal of our Lower School Early Childhood Program is to provide a safe, engaging environment where Preschoolers through Kindergarteners explore, discover, and learn at their own pace under the guidance of nurturing, professional teachers.
Active learning centers feature choice-based individual and group activities anchored in art, language, math, music, science, and social studies. At LCDS, every young child is challenged to reach their full potential in an atmosphere that fosters social, physical, intellectual, and emotional development while instilling a lifelong love of learning.
Entrepreneurship Starts Early
The One Hen project is an annual, hands-on social entrepreneurship program during which our Kindergarteners collaborate with their 5th grade buddies to conceptualize and launch a small business, sell handmade goods, and donate proceeds to a nonprofit of their choice.
Program Specialties
- Instruction is individualized, thematic, and interdisciplinary
- Spanish language classes begin in Preschool
- Recess, exercise, and wellness are a fundamental part of our well-rounded learning experience
- Specialized instruction in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics)
- Art classes begin in Preschool, and all students participate in visual arts classes 2-3 times per week
