Learning Services

The Lab at LCDS recognizes that students develop, learn, and grow in a variety of ways. We embrace a community of diverse learners, supporting and empowering best practices in learning and education, informed by research and experience.

LCDS is committed to providing an exceptional learning experience for every student, while maintaining our high academic standards. Our dedicated Learning Services team – staffed by expert Learning Specialists – offers targeted assistance that goes beyond the typical classroom help provided by our teachers. We tailor our support to students with identified learning differences, addressing their unique needs both in and out of the classroom.

Our Learning Specialists collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, administrators, parents, and outside professionals. This partnership allows us to proactively identify and monitor students who may benefit from additional help. In the Middle and Lower Schools, we use progress monitoring assessments to ensure our instruction and support are always effective and responsive to student needs. Across all divisions, our team plays a crucial role in:

  • Facilitating referrals for psychoeducational or neuropsychological evaluations.
  • Educating faculty on diverse student learning profiles.
  • Coordinating comprehensive support services and accommodations.
  • Regularly consulting with teachers and students to optimize learning.

While LCDS strives to accommodate a broad spectrum of learning differences, our ability to provide individual or small group sessions with a Learning Specialist is determined by evaluation results, teacher referrals, and administrative recommendations. If a student's needs extend beyond our capacity, we will suggest alternative strategies or recommend further evaluation to ensure they receive the best possible support.
