Tuition Assistance

As we seek to make an LCDS education accessible and affordable, our tuition assistance process assists Kindergarten through 12th grade families with tuition costs. At LCDS, we are committed to a socioeconomically diverse school community. Applying for assistance does not affect admissions decisions.

PS and JK Parents

Separated, Divorced or Remarried Parents

Lancaster Country Day School's policy is to determine financial need based on the principle that both parents—even following separation or divorce—are responsible for the education of their children. The school will consider the assets of both natural parents before making any award and cannot be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses.

If either parent has remarried, we will also consider the assets of the stepparent, always bearing in mind the obligation of the stepparent to his or her own natural children. It is necessary for both natural parents and their current spouses, if any, to fill out a financial aid application. If information from both custodial and noncustodial parents is not provided, the Financial Aid Committee won’t be able to consider that family’s request for aid.

Merit Scholarships

LCDS is proud to announce the availability of several scholarships for incoming students. These scholarships allow us to gather and support on our campus an outstanding collection of young learners, representing the full range and diversity of our local area. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for students who demonstrate exceptional promise in academics, arts, community service, and other areas, recognizing their potential to contribute meaningfully to our school community and beyond. Each scholarship is named in honor of individuals who have significantly contributed to the school's legacy, and have exemplified our core values of Belonging, Respect, Integrity, Community, Kindness, and Scholarship (the “BRICKS”). By offering these merit-based scholarships, we aim to attract and nurture the leaders, thinkers, and innovators who will contribute to our vibrant school community and help to build a better tomorrow.

John Jarvis Scholarship

John Jarvis Scholarship (1 per year)

Lancaster Country Day School will award a $10,000 scholarship in honor of John A. Jarvis, headmaster of LCDS from 1967-1990, whose vision and determination profoundly shaped the school. The John Jarvis Scholarship, which is renewable yearly, recognizes students with strong academics who reflect our core school values of belonging, respect, integrity, community, kindness, and scholarship – both inside and outside of the classroom. The recipient of this prestigious scholarship, to be recognized as a Jarvis Scholar, is determined by a selection committee composed of the Head of School, teachers, and administrators.

Eligible Students: All incoming Sixth through Eleventh grade students

Helen Stahr Scholarship

Helen Stahr Scholarship (2 per year)

Lancaster Country Day School will award two $10,000 scholarships in honor of Helen Russell Stahr, the founder of one of the precursor schools to LCDS. This scholarship was established in the spirit of dedication to education that Helen Stahr embodied. This scholarship is renewable yearly, and Stahr Scholarship recipients will demonstrate not only an exemplary academic record, but a passion for learning and deep engagement with both the school and the community. Stahr Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee of faculty and administrators.

Eligible Students: One incoming Middle School student and one incoming Upper School student

Eugene Gardner Scholarship

Eugene Gardner Scholarship (no limit)

Lancaster Country Day School will award $10,000 scholarships in tribute to Eugene Gardner, a former Board Chair whose legacy as an advocate for the arts at LCDS was unwavering. This scholarship is renewable annually, and its recipients will demonstrate outstanding accomplishment in and dedication to music, theater, dance, and/or the visual arts. Eugene Gardner Scholarship recipients will be selected by members of the LCDS performing arts faculty.

Eligible Students: All incoming Sixth through Eleventh grade students

Head of School Sixth Grade Scholarship

Head of School Sixth Grade Scholarship (no limit)

Lancaster Country Day School is proud to announce a new $7,500 Head of School Scholarship for incoming sixth grade students for the 2025-’26 school year! LCDS believes that entering Middle School marks a transformative year for students, where they begin to discover their academic passions and personal strengths. Our scholarship program for incoming sixth grade students aims to support and celebrate this pivotal stage, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive and grow in our nurturing educational environment.

LCDS recognizes and supports exceptional young learners who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to community. Recipients of this scholarship will benefit from our dedicated faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and a curriculum that – in the words of our Mission Statement – “empowers students to pursue their passions, find purpose, and become the best versions of themselves.” By investing in these outstanding individuals as they enter Middle School, we will begin to cultivate future leaders who will contribute meaningfully to both our school community and the broader society.
