Admissions

Applying to LCDS

The Application Process

The best way to decide if Lancaster Country Day School is the right school for your child is to see for yourself. We invite you to attend one of our Admission Events, take a private tour, speak with someone from our admission team, observe classes and meet teachers and students.

  • Schedule a Visit

Students spend a day shadowing a current student. Prospective students are able to visit various classes, meet teachers and students and experience what the day in the life of a LCDS student is like. During the visit your child will be asked to do a writing sample and have an interview with the Head of the Division they will be entering. (It is usually most convenient for families to schedule their visits on the same day.) We will work with out-of-state families to meet these requirements in the most convenient way possible.

To schedule a parent or student visit, contact Sandi Abraham at 717-392-2916 ext. 2227 or admissionoffice@lancastercountryday.org.
  • Submit Your Application

The application requirements vary depending on the grade. There is a $50 application fee.

We strongly encourage families to apply as early as possible, as some classes fill sooner than others. To create an account online, please click here.

The application for Preschool to 5th grade can be downloaded here and the application for 6th-12th grade can be downloaded here.
  • Testing

All applicants for Middle and Upper School have the option of taking the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). This test is scheduled by the family. PSAT, PSSA, & SAT scores, if taken, can be used instead of the SSAT.
  • Complete an Application

The application requirements vary according to the age of the applicant. The applications include forms to be filled out by the family, the candidate’s current school (if applicable), and teachers. The admission checklist for PS-5th grade is here. The checklist for grades 6-12 is here. All application materials—including teacher recommendations, transcripts, and transcript releases, as well as student writing samples and testing must be done before the Enrollment Committee reviews the application.

The application process should be completed as soon as possible.
  • Apply for Tuition Assistance (if needed)

Lancaster Country Day School asks families to apply for tuition assistance only after they have considered all available resources and determined the full cost of tuition is beyond their means.

Tuition Assistance is awarded based on demonstrated need and available funding.

To apply for tuition assistance, please visit School & Student Services. Please be sure to upload all of the applicable tax information to complete the application.
Preschool and Junior Kindergarten are full for the 2022-2023 school year.
