The Campus

Campus and Community

Founded in 1908, Lancaster Country Day School is an independent, college-preparatory school where about 600 students from preschool to 12th-grade receive an unparalleled education and are part of a warm and welcoming community.
Set on 26 acres in the serene School Lane Hills neighborhood, Lancaster Country Day stands surrounded by its playgrounds, athletic fields, tennis courts and beautiful learning gardens. Students come from five neighboring counties, as well as from countries including China, Italy, Scotland and South Africa.

Lancaster Country Day students participate actively in the cultural life of the city that’s home to their school, and Lancaster city affords LCDS students a wealth of opportunities for creative expression, historic investigation and enjoying the simple community and charm that seems to flourish so naturally in America’s smaller, Colonial-era cities.

In subjects as disparate as AP Biology and advanced photography, teachers and students can enrich their classroom work by heading out the door toward downtown. The Refugee and Immigrant Service Education (RAISE) club participates in a yearly cultural exchange with the Refugee Center at a local public Middle School, while individual students regulalry spearhead fundraising and donation drives to support the needs of local families.

With an 8:1 student-teacher ratio, open lockers and a 100-percent college acceptance rate for graduating seniors, Lancaster Country Day is a place where students do more than learn; they gain an understanding of the community and the world, themselves and one another, becoming more erudite, thoughtful and kind individuals on the journey.
Lancaster Country Day School is a preschool-12th grade, coed college preparatory school with students from Lancaster, Hershey, York and Reading.
