The Teaching Apprenticeship is an intensive, full-time, 10-month paid position consisting of the equivalent of a 40% teaching load (two courses for Middle School or Upper School classes), serving as an advisor or co-advisor for about eight students, and three trimesters of co-curricular mentoring experiences. These mentoring experiences could involve coaching athletic teams or assisting with theatre productions, robotics, or building supervision. The specific tasks asked of the Apprentice will be tailored to his or her interests and capabilities, and to the school’s needs. The mentor teacher would provide the Teaching Apprentice with guidance regarding the curriculum, instructional methods, and assessment. The Teaching Apprentice will be a member of the faculty and report to the appropriate Division Head and to the Head of School.
Placement options for the Teaching Apprenticeship include:
Lower School (grades preschool through 5)
Middle School (grades 6-8)
Upper School (grades 9-12)
Specialist classes (could include cover grades preschool through 12) in art, music, robotics, library, or physical education
Lancaster Country Day School seeks an experienced mathematics teacher for full-time employment starting August 17, 2020. We are looking for an educator with a desire and strong ability to teach middle school level courses, including sixth-grade general math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I. Ability to teach upper-level math courses or computer science is a plus. Lancaster Country Day School seeks an experienced learning specialist starting in August 2019. Responsibilities would include working in collaboration with Administrators, guidance counselors, Intermediate Unit itinerant staff, students and their families to increase student achievement, to facilitate the Student Support Team process, and academic interventions in preschool through 5th grade with some classroom teaching. LCDS is currently looking for a friendly and competent Teacher Assistant to join our team. If you are a compassionate and self-motivated individual with a specific interest in education, we urge you to apply!
