Our school delivers success on many levels. Lancaster Country Day School’s SAT scores are 240 points higher than the combined public and private school average in Lancaster County... and while students’ test scores aren’t the only way to measure our school, they do say a lot about our graduates’ ability to handle the future challenges of college and life. We have the resources to educate the whole child. We equally value, teach, and applaud commitment to community, creative expression in the arts, athletic excellence, personal integrity, and mutual respect. Our goal is to provide for each student an education that will enable him or her to set, pursue and achieve personal goals at a level higher than they could have ever considered possible without an LCDS educational foundation. Because LCDS students of all ages learn together under one roof, we provide a more secure and more invigorating learning experience. From the LCDS tradition of open lockers to the tutoring and mentoring that our Upper School students provide for younger schoolmates, we provide close and supportive relationships in and out of the classroom. The LCDS difference is committed teachers who care about their students. Drawn by a motivated student culture, our faculty can focus on each student's success, serve as a vibrant role model, better cultivate the ability to think independently, and integrate innovation in and out of the classroom with great efficiency. Your son or daughter will be unique and appreciated, not one of 20-35 students of varying motivation. Click here for faculty, graduate and parent experiences.
Upon graduation, each LCDS graduate is accepted into the right college. At LCDS, we consider the right college to be the one that fits each student's goals, academic and extracurricular interests. Our LCDS college guidance office knows every child well. Click here to learn about the experiences of our parents and graduates.
LCDS graduates will always be prepared for the future. Our complex world will have challenges for the next generation-challenges unknown today but sure to require flexibility and innovative thinking. An LCDS graduate is more likely to be a lifelong learner, with social skills and broad self-confidence borne of a range of talents and leadership experience. LCDS grads can be counted on to address tomorrow's technological, global and societal change. Click here for testimonials that speak to graduates broader preparation for college and life.
We have had the perspective of experience with independent schools in the New York City area, both personally and through friends with children the same age as our own. It is our belief that our children have received an education equal, if not superior, to that of students attending prestigious New York schools, without the added stress and competition that such environments tend to foster.
