LCDS 2010-2015 Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning involves big questions. The LCDS Board of Trustees, guided by the Strategic Planning Committee has begun the process of drafting a new plan to serve as our roadmap for the next five years. This plan will give us the script for the story of our school that can be told, reviewed, updated and measured. We prefer a concise plan that will be used and purposefully referenced in the months and years ahead.

The existing framework for the 2010-2015 Strategic Plan involves five broad goals. Within each goal, a central question is presented to spur your thought and to invite your input.

Strategic Plan Outline of Goals

1.       Become the premier academic institution in our region, one that challenges, supports and respects students and faculty.
Question: How do we become the clearly acknowledged leader among the PS - 12 schools in the region?

2.       Increase enrollment to approximately 600 or more utilizing a robust admissions and retention process.
Question: How do we achieve full enrollment in the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools without compromising the close working relationships that we enjoy in a small school setting?

3.      Ensure that the quality of campus life is fully supportive of our academic program, as well as stimulating, fun and oriented toward building a stronger LCDS community.
Question: What do we need to do to make our school a truly well-rounded place where students really want to be?

4.      Create an exceptional physical environment that supports our curricular and extra-curricular programs at every level.
Question: What must be done to ensure that the LCDS campus has premier facilities for learning and social development, and a safe and highly desirable campus setting?

5.      Secure and manage our resources in order to enhance the long-term financial health of LCDS.
Question: How do we create the financial capacity and continue to build the associated infrastructure that allows the school to both navigate the uncertain future ahead and make necessary investments in order to secure that future?

We welcome your written input that will be added to the notes taken from the several discussion forums held with faculty, parents, students, alumni and long-time supporters of the school. In our collective search for the winning propositions that will drive this plan, we invite you to respond: strategicplan@lancastercountryday.org
