List of 4 items.

  • Daily accessibility

April Fantazzi serves as the full-time athletic trainer for the LCDS Athletic Department. Athletes have daily access to Mrs. Fantazzi during and after games and practices. Having a certified athletic trainer on campus every day gives athletes and parents the peace of mind in knowing that a skilled medical professional is available for evaluation, assessment, and treatment of all injuries.
  • Event coverage

A Certified Athletic Trainer is available for athletic competitions held on the LCDS campus. Mrs. Fantazzi is available for pre- and post-game treatments, as well as for primary management of injuries that occur during an athletic contest. This service is available for LCDS athletes, as well as all visiting teams.
  • Rehabilitation

Mrs. Fantazzi works in conjunction with physicians and physical therapists to provide a unique opportunity for injured athletes to complete rehabilitation programs on campus.  The sports injury policy may be read here.
  • ImPACT

The LCDS Athletic Department uses the computer-based concussion management program ImPACT to assist with the supervision of head injuries sustained during athletics. The ImPACT test has been designed specifically for the management of sports-related concussions and measures multiple aspects of cognitive functioning, including working memory, sustained and selective attention span, non-verbal problem solving, and reaction time. All MS and US student-athletes participating in a contact sport will take the ImPACT test in the preseason to provide baseline data. If a head injury is sustained during participation, the student-athlete will again be tested on the ImPACT system to compare the results with the baseline data. Athletes who have suffered head injuries may not return to play until cleared by the LCDS athletic trainer and the team physician.
